Bad as himself.

I picked up the new Tom Waits “Bad As Me” tonight. Avoided the week long streaming of it on his website.. tried to not listen to it but my friend left a burned copy of it wedged in my apartment door. Eventually I did give the burned copy a few spins in my crappy Ford Focus cd player.

But yes. I am now enjoying this fantastic lp in my apartment via my turntable. It sounds great. How can it not? Keith Richards, Flea and Les Claypool lend some instrumentation to the album.

In my opinion the album feels very concentrated & tight. On the song “Last Leaf” Tom sings “I’m the last leaf on the tree…” words couldn’t be so truer sang.

Jazz on a Sunday morning.

Pickwick, I think gets a bad rap. Well,  from what I read anyway. They were a cheap compilation label and churned out quite a bit of comps in the 60’s and 70’s. I scored this nice jazz compilation the other day which features some great tracks by the likes of Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Wardell Gray and even Dexter Gordon and Frank Motley.  It sounds great and is perfect for what is left of this Sunday morning.
